"A Gift For Teaching"

No child should miss out on a chance to succeed merely because they lack the tools.

Since 1998, A Gift For Teaching (AGFT) has worked to improve public education in the Central Florida area by transferring gifted and surplus resources to teachers for their students in need. AGFT's concept is beautifully simple: local businesses take unwanted supplies or surplus merchandise and donate it for distribution through the Free Store for teachers. But, donations of books and other school supplies from the general public keep AGFT’s mission moving forward. And the result of this mission is that more than 7,535 teachers from Central Florida's highest need schools can then shop for free to make sure the more than 148,000 students in our community have what they need to learn.

The Need
Almost half the students in Central Florida can’t afford lunch, let alone school supplies. In many cases, devoted teachers spend between $500-$1,000 of their own money to buy supplies for students and classrooms.

What can we do to help?
For every $1 received at A Gift For Teaching, $10 worth of supplies goes back to the classroom. So, of course, monetary donations are always welcome. But product donations, such as basic school supplies (pencils, crayons, glue, backpacks, etc.), videos and books are just as necessary to the success of this organization and its mission.
We are hoping that our very generous attendees will take a moment to buy a box of pencils, a book or any other tool students need to succeed in school everyday, and drop it off at the Conference Registration Desk for donation to AGFT. Every little bit makes a very big difference!

During a time when budgets are tight, let’s not forget the teachers who work tirelessly for little recognition and the students who deserve a fair chance by supporting programs like A Gift For Teaching!
Note: Charity Navigator, America's premier independent charity evaluator, gives AGFT its highest rating of four-stars, meaning it exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in its cause.
